Over the decades Rick has organised many events. Famously he has encouraged lots of people to get involved and join him (often with considerable reservation and some trepidation!)
Several of Rick's "victims" felt it would be good to have an "event" to raise money for a charity close to the hearts of many of us - Prostate Cancer UK.
The first "Rick's Ride" was back in 1985 from Bowness to Otley. It didn't achieve the intended 100 miles, though soon afterwards a century ride in the Dales did reach that goal.
So, bearing in mind that time has taken its toll 40 years on, we have organised an event to celebrate this;
There are three options:-
A 40-mile bike ride, led by John starting and finishing at Grimwith reservoir car park. (Yorkshire Water) Details below.
As this is a fairly hilly ride it is anticipated to take 4 to 4 ½ hours at a social pace, so starting time is 9:00am at the car park. Details of the ride are below
A 4.5 mile walk around Grimwith reservoir led by Sue (dogs are welcome but not compulsory) Also starting at the car park. Meet at 10.00am
Toilets are available on site
At the moment, parking is free
There are 2 cafes nearby for refreshments on your return

A mountain bike ride is to be the ‘traditional’. A 20-mile easy route stating from Burn Bridge, Harrogate at 10:00am led by Rick. Parking is on the side road opposite the Black Swan Pub on Malthouse Lane

We are hosting an evening social at The Tree House in Otley between 5pm and 9pm on the same day to regroup.
The tickets are £30 per person and we ask everyone to bring a raffle donation or an offer of an auction promise. We hope to raise a considerable sum from the raffle and auction of promises. The auction promises could be a box of chocolates, a Porsche, a ride in a Porsche, or a classic MGB!! – whatever you can think of.
The ticket price includes a buffet and music; children are free. The venue has a licenced bar. As the morning activities are optional you can just come along to the evening social and help raise some money for charity. All are welcome, friends, family etc, please spread the word.
