Over the decades Rick has organised many events. Famously he has encouraged lots of people to get involved and join him (often with considerable reservation and some trepidation!)
Several of Rick's "victims" felt it would be good to have an "event" to raise money for a charity close to the hearts of many of us - Prostate Cancer UK.
The first "Rick's Ride" was back in 1985 from Bowness to Otley. It didn't achieve the intended 100 miles, though soon afterwards a century ride in the Dales did reach that goal.
Time has taken its toll and, 40 years on, other alternative events need to be considered for Rick's Ride 2025. Though some lucky souls might want to take on a hundred, the plan is to organise a variety of options, culminating in a meal and a few beers in the evening. There could be shorter rides, perhaps over different terrains. There could be a walk. Some might want to drive or ride a motorbike around one of the routes, some might have other ideas we haven't thought of!
On the day everyone will do something and get involved, have a good meal, enjoy themselves and make a bob or two for a very worthy cause!
We are hosting an event at the Tree House in Otley between 5pm and 9pm on Saturday 20th August 2025.
There is a ticket price of £30 per person; a buffet, a bar and music will be included. The balance will be added to any donations made on the day.

We had decided on two routes, both starting and finishing at Grimwith Reservoir. One a 40 mile route and another 80 miler. Both are taking advantage of the routes provided Yorkshire Water. The links below will open the route information up in a new tab.
